  • 4 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 1 tsp cardamon seeds (from green or white pods)
  • 4 bay leafs
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 cinnamon stick (broken up)


  • Put all the ingredients in a spice grinder and grind, shaking every now and then to make sure nothing is stuck under the blades.
  • Once done, store in an air-tight container or masala dabba.


Garam Masala will stay fresh for up to 6 months if stored in an air-tight container.
